Can You Believe School Is Starting?

Summer is almost over and for many, school has already started. Our kids start school this Thursday. That was the great thing about being in school, the cycle of ending a school year, having the summer to be free and then starting things new again with a new school year. Always the opportunity to start fresh, discover new opportunities, meet new friends and pick up where we left off with old friends.

At 305, we love discovering new opportunities every day. Our business allows us to use the best of what we have learned over 18 years + in marketing, communications and programming and apply that experience to the new technologies emerging all around us. Many development companies put all their investment in one technology or a single vertical market. Somewhere along the way we decided this was boring and the most interesting thing about what we do are the people we get to work with and the challenges they bring to us. The more the merrier.

It has been a busy summer including a trip to South Africa for the World Cup. What a wonderful country with caring, compassionate people willing to help anyone at anytime. I would love to go back and visit again. At 305, we've been busy jamming on websites and online applications. Nothing vertical here - bank website, casino websites, Lenny's Sub Shop including online ordering via mobile (iPhone, Android, Smartphones) nearly done and almost ready to go live, Agent extranet, Sunflower Blues Festival, Cruises in Branson, Recycling website, Realtor site, Facebook, Facebook and more Facebook, blogs, a new WordPress server setup inhouse and Version 6 of the online yearbook wizard for the oldest and best school picture company in the country - Inter-State Studio and Publishing Company.

There is lots more coming up this fall. We are getting quite a few calls and emails about new website designs for old client websites. Now is the time. We can quickly give you some ideas for a re-skin or a complete overhaul. Plus lots of new features we can work in today. And our organic SEO best practices are worth working into your next website update. Add the Facebook custom tab (sweet) and a rockin' blog and you will be the new social maestro or social diva on your block.

We were fortunate this summer to have hired Amanda Stice recently as our Account Services/Project Manager at 305. If you have called recently, you will have already spoken to her.  Amanda had been working as the Director of Communications for the Sedalia Chamber and Visitors Bureau for the past 4 years.  She brings with her a background in customer relations, marketing, and graphic design. Amanda is a great addition to our team and will get to wear many hats including tracking and coordinating projects, client needs and client outreach. Amanda can be reached at Amanda@305spin.com or (660) 827-3056.

Let's All Go Green!

Everyone knows recycling is the responsible way to deal with waste.  The cycle of recycling includes collecting recyclable materials that would otherwise be considered waste, sorting and processing recyclables into raw materials such as fibers, and manufacturing raw materials into new products.  In cooperation with the City of Shreveport and Caddo Parish, Shreveport Green leads the way in recycling education and community outreach for Shreveport and the parish.

Through the curbside “Just Curb It” recycling program, customers don’t have to separate recyclable materials.  Now all recyclables go into the cart together, and the cart is collected on the same day as your regular trash collection.  Customers simply fill the blue cart and park it at the curb on collection day – what could be easier?  All the sorting is then done by Pratt Industries, a company which operates three of the most modern, cost-effective paper mills in the country, as well as a series of sheet and box plants strategically placed throughout the eastern United States offering a wide range of creative packaging solutions.

Learn more about the Just Curb It recycling program and Pratt Industries at www.justcurbit.us.  The website was programmed and developed by 305 Spin working with design and content from Gremillion and Pou, a leading ad ageny in Shreveport, Louisianna.

Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival

Helping spread the word about Clarksdale’s 23rd annual Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival kicking off Friday, Aug. 6,  Willie Seaberry, better known as Po’ Monkey, takes a break from tractor driving to hang festival posters outside his famous county juke joint - Po Monkey’s Lounge near Merigold. Featuring three days of music with a main stage, two acoustic stages, and a gospel stage, the free festival is a tribute to Ike Turner and Rocket 88 musicians who recorded the first rock and roll record in 1951. A Mississippi Blues Trail marker honoring Ike Turner will be unveiled at 10 a.m. Friday in downtown Clarksdale.
