Alligator Records’ Bruce Iglauer Named A Chicagoan Of The YearIt is with great pleasure that we congratulate our longtime friend and client, Alligator Records’ Bruce Iglauer for being named one of nine Chicagoans of the year by The Chicago Tribune.
Alligator Records kicked off 2011 in February with the release of the 2-CD set
The Alligator Records 40th Anniversary Collection. In June, during the Chicago
Blues Festival, Iglauer received a proclamation from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Mayor Emanuel honored Iglauer’s contribution to the city’s musical heritage on
a night dedicated to the label’s anniversary, featuring performances by blues
icons Lonnie Brooks, Eddy “The Chief” Clearwater, Michael “Iron Man” Burks,
Rick Estrin, and Shemekia Copeland. Among the many other highlights of
the label’s 40th anniversary, in July, rolled out a new Alligator Records website
built by 305 Spin featuring over 3,000 track samples from over 280 albums by
more than 100 of the leading blues artists from yesterday and today. 305 Spin
is very proud of everything that Alligator Records celebrated in 2011, and we
wish them continued success and growth in 2012 and for many years to come. 0 comments - Posted by 305 Spin at 4:37 PM - Categories: Special Announcement

We have been doing this for several years and many of you have expressed your appreciation for this approach. This year we are pleased to announce that in addition to our contribution to the Peggy White Memorial - Ponca Bible Camp in Ponca, Arkansas, we will also be making contributions to Open Door, a local organization that provides meals and basic necessity resources in our area; Sedalia's American Red Cross; and Sacred Heart School's National Honor Society sponsored Christmas Eve dinner for the unemployed, elderly, and disabled in Pettis County.
We

to share with. We are extremely excited about what 2012 will bring and look

Alligator Records Featured on Grammy.com
Bruce Iglauer started Alligator Records in Chicago in 1971 with a $2,500 inheritance from his grandfather, and the loan of a down payment on a Chevy Vega from his mother Harriett so he could service retailers with an album by Hound Dog Taylor & The HouseRockers in a time-honored fashion: out of his trunk. For only $900, Iglauer produced the recording and subsequently pressed 1,000 copies — giving birth to Alligator Records. This was more than a decade before there was either a Chicago Blues Festival — which Iglauer helped start in 1984 — or a dedicated blues GRAMMY category, which debuted in the form of Best Traditional Blues Recording in 1982. 0 comments - Posted by 305 Spin at 4:23 PM - Categories: Special Announcement |
